SSL and Reverse Proxy Go Hand in Hand

May 11, 2017

What is SSL? (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.

What is Reverse Proxy? creates a mirror image copy of the advertiser’s website with all of the content the same, except phone numbers can be replaced with call tracking and the ability to add embedded analytics is a lot easier.

When is it used with Reverse Proxy? Securing URLs for performance marketing campaigns. This increases workflow/ production efficiencies - as new domains registered within DevHub can be auto provisioned with new SSL certificates, and the corresponding Site and/or Landing Page are live and serving secure pages within minutes.

Why is SSL important? SSL provides more user trust when visiting sites, filling out forms...etc. Google is also requiring HTTPs for secure connections and potentially providing a ranking boost.

Use case from Chief Technology Officer - “With one company - in 20 minutes we saw 20 new domains registered, new SSL certificates were auto-generated, and the Sites were live and serving secure pages within minutes. There is no reason with technologies like DevHub around not to use SSL everywhere at scale"
