People who admire products featured in their Instagram feed will be able to buy those items right on the platform starting March 19, 2019.
Checkout, as the feature is known:
- Currently open to a handful of brands like Nike and Revolve.
- The feature could blossom into another stream of revenue for Facebook, Instagram’s parent company, and enable it to compete against retail giants like Amazon and Walmart.
- Checkout may also be a win for small businesses that find viral success on the platform.
